Single Origin Coffees
Varietals, also known as Single Origin Coffees, are regular coffees that are imported from a single country. Like grapes for wine, Varietal coffees are characteristic of the country where they are grown. For instance, Ethiopian Coffees have a rich, wild, winey character. Indonesian coffees have a full-bodied, heavier earthiness best represented by the Sumatran coffees. Real gutsy and smooth in the darker roasts.
Central and South American coffees are light and mild in character, having a pleasant flavor and aroma recognized by most people and African coffees tend to have a sharp, winey character similar to Ethiopians.
All our freshly roasted coffees are packaged in 1 pound (16oz, 454gr) heat sealed foil valve bags with re-closeable tin ties to preserve their freshness.
When ordering, please remember to specify whole bean or a grind:
Coarse--for French Press
Drip--for automatic drip coffee makers with a flat bottom filter
Fine--for automatic drip coffee makers with a cone filter (Melitta)
Espresso Grind
Turkish Grind
Where's my favorite coffee? A good question! Some of your favorite varietals (which make up many of our best-selling blends) are in short supply due to weather and economic conditions in the countries where they are grown. The most important factor in the shortage however is that there are simply more coffee drinkers in the world then ever before. It’s the old supply and demand problem that’s now hit the coffee world.
Please know that we are continually working with our growers and importers to get the coffees that you love. But in the meantime, if we’re out of your favorite coffee, this could be an opportunity to try something new!
